Still Life Drawings

For the past couple of weeks in cyberARTS, we have been working on drawing still life's. The main goal in this assignment was to improve our approach on composition and realism. We wanted a well balanced piece but not identical. This would make the piece balanced but not boring.

The main aspect that i focused on when drawing was the value. Whenever i draw, i always tend to focus on contour and perspective. i also tried to give it a more 3 dimensional look. I did this by adding a lot of contrast between lights and darks and also by distorting the shadow through the bottle.

The biggest challenge I faced was the fact that the majority of the objects placed were black. It was hard to find shadow and different shades but in the end i think i did a good job of it. The bottle ended up being more centered than i wanted it to, so to make it more balanced and give it a diagonal feel, I added more folds in the cloth.

I believe i could still improve on my value, and perspective of objects at different angles. I am proud of this piece.
